Andy Smythe (words and music)
The songs is about a rainy day last summer when I took my kids around the Horniman Museum in South London. A brass band was playing whilst old ladies were dreaming of bygone empires and mmy kids were charging around the stuffed animal collection!
Rain like tears falls from the sky
The Sabbath day looks set to die
Children dance and children sing
To the heavens their voices ring

Another rainy day in England
Another rainy day in England

Oh stuff the dodo he never flew
The polar bear the kangaroo
Make monkey faces through the glass
Watch us run we move so fast

Whilst spinsters sit and contemplate
An empires fate over tea and cake
The tuba sings with its big brass breath
Of a summer born from a winters death

Perfumed blossoms fall like snow
Upon our hair like wreaths bestowed
Broadleaved oaks like drunkards bend
To the squalls that Biscay sends
