Andy Smythe: Home

Welcome to andysmythe.com! A talented singer-songwriter, Andy Smythe is a versatile and gifted musician He has a truly fantastic tenor voice with a huge range that is reminiscent of Jeff and Tim Buckley. Andy has played and performed with the very best in English folk at venues throughout the UK such as the Red Lion folk club in Birmingham and at Broadstairs Folk Festival. He's a classically trained pianist and his playing will bear comparison to such luminaries as Rufus Wainright and Randy Newman. On the acoustic guitar Andy prefers to play more energetic and emotive songs and he has been compared to Phil Ochs. Andy brings his Roland Stage piano and Tascam studio speakers to a gig to give the very best in acoustic sound quality and will alternate between playing piano and guitar.

Back on the Road - August 1, 2018

Just a quick announcement that I'm currently booking in gigs for what's left of 2018 and 2019. I'm writing a batch of new songs with a folk rock/country vibe and am looking to put a band out again, with Les Elvin on bass and a wonderful fiddle player. We hope to be at a pub/club near you soon!

Leonard Cohen tribute gig - November 9, 2017

This sunday 12th November I'm playing a tribute to Leonard Cohen gig at Ruskin House in Croydon. I'll be reinventing some of his greatest songs on the piano and singing an octave higher than the great bard! Come along and support the cause - all proceeds to keeping the great union community headquarters going.
